Typically, when I see a car with these clues, it's got NAPA (or similar) aftermarket parts throughout which don't meet the OE performance. I would strongly disagree with the above poster who asserts that the car "looks like everything is in good condition". Again, this is one of those niggling little details which is a tip-off that the car wasn't maintained by a knowledgeable 'benz diesel tech the seller can claim that he's been taking proper care of the car per his shop guys, but the clues are there that they didn't and he (the owner) doesn't know the difference, either. Typically, the aftermarket radiator caps spec'ed for the car run the wrong system pressure which contributed to poor coolant circulation. The radiator cap is wrong, rather than the Behr cap for many cars, this isn't a big deal, but it is an indication to me that the car wasn't serviced by a knowledgeable MB diesel tech/shop. The intake air hose, which goes from the radiator valance area to the air filter housing is missing this contributes to a quieter air intake on these cars. Note that it's got steel wheels with hubcaps rather than the USA spec alloy wheels the hubcaps were stripped of the correct white trim paint in the star area to match the body color.Ī quick glance at the pictures shows that the driver's door interior door latch is broken you can see the lever dangling at an odd angle. it's more than a comfort/safety issue, it's a durability issue (why? because of the TUV operating requirements in Germany, the cars are not expected to be on the road for more than 5-6 years if you don't know about this aspect of vehicle inspections which preclude keeping all but the very highest end top dollar cars on the road for a long time, you can research this online). These seats aren't built to the same standards as the USA spec seats.
It is a euro model (123.183) car with the manual crank windows, manual heater & A/C system (which were more reliable than the climate control system in the USA model 300TD's), velour cloth interior panels rather than an MB tex or leather interior. This car is a 240TDiesel 4 cylinder diesel, naturally aspirated, not a turbocharged 3 liter 5 cylinder.
